From Volunteer to Ambassador...

Attention:  Former Visitors to Haiti

As you know, we have a very small fundraising staff in the mainland U.S. and an extremely low overhead.

We rely on former Haiti "pilgrims" to come back home and become a link in our "supply line"—and to step up as advocates for what you have seen, smelled, heard, and experienced.

Please share your story and photos with your friends... church... civic groups—become the voice of the people who will forever affect the way you view your own life.

Going to Haiti and helping is so appreciated—but it's only part of the story... Your real job starts when you come home and share the story of our outreach to your friends and colleagues.

The poor have so little—they rely on you to be their messenger—and their advocate—in a world that more often than not overlooks the conditions for our neighbors in need.

We have a PowerPoint presentation available on CD and plenty of brochures that we can send to help you with your presentation and fundraising, just ask!

The Haitian Health Foundation relies on the generosity of donors and the many volunteers who donate their time and talents to supplement our staff in Haiti.

Volunteers travel to Jérémie from America, Canada and Europe at their own expense, to share their skills and resources with the poor.
The third floor of the clinic is a volunteer residence capable of housing visiting volunteers.  To further accommodate volunteerism, we have constructed a three-bedroom hospitality house with the support of Rotary Districts 7980 and 7020 for the use by long-term volunteers serving at the clinic.
Visiting volunteer physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners offer specialized treatment to patients.  These health professionals bring with them the latest procedures and technology.
In addition, we are seeking volunteer electricians, plumbers, diesel mechanics, and general “handy” people for maintenance of our facilities...

More Than Volunteers…
As stated above... no matter your skill... no matter your talents... we will find a way for you to help in Haiti—but the important job starts when you come back and share the story with your friends and colleagues! When you come home, your role shifts to Ambassador—you will be speaking on behalf of the people of Haiti who are in need, and your responsibility shifts from a volunteer to that of the advocate Ambassador. We know that you will not forget those whom you've seen and the stories you've heard. You'll remember the needs of the children and the successes of the clinics. And your roll as Ambassador will include filling those needs through fundraising at home.
