What Credit Card Can I Use? Does It Make a Difference?
While we appreciate your support whether you use VISA, MasterCard, or American Express, please understand that we have contracted with a credit card processor that charges HHF no fees for VISA and MasterCard. American Express, however, charges a fee equal to almost 3% of the donation. (Sorry, Discover Card is not accepted by our card processor.)
This means that 100% of VISA and MasterCard donations go to HHF, while nearly $150 of every $5,000 donated through AMEX (whether it’s a single $5,000 donation or fifty $100 donations) won’t make it to Haiti—that’s money lost forever in the transaction costs. Regardless of the size of your gift, please consider these fees when choosing your credit card—it all adds up. Thank you.

• Use My Gift Where HHF Needs It Most
Your unrestricted gift helps HHF to provide health and development services to thousands of impoverished villagers every year. Included in this category are such essentials as medicine and supplies for our pharmacy (i.e., pain relievers, diabetic medicine, etc.), X-rays and other diagnostic equipment and supplies, vehicle expenses to transport health staff out to the rural villages, and so on. These important dollars are essential to HHF’s efforts to relieve pain and to save lives, every day.

• Adopt-a-Village
By adopting a village for $5,000, you’re supporting the Foundation’s public health outreach program to over 100 rural, mountain villages in and around Jérémie. Your gift supports the needs of your adopted village, including expenses of the Health Agents and other health workers, fuel for advanced health workers to bring health to the remote villages, medicines and medical supplies, and so on.

• Adopt-a-Health Agent
Health Agents play a crucial role in the success of HHF’s public health outreach program. These dedicated men and women work are trained by HHF, returning to their villages to provide excellent health care to the rural, mountain villages, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For a donation of $300 per month (or an annual donation of $3,600), you will help the Agent provide health care to between 2,500 and 4,000 people in his or her village.

• Center of Hope
Your gift to the HHF Center of Hope will provide lifesaving residential medical care to at-risk pregnant women or severely malnourished children. These patients are in desperate need of medical care. Your gift will pay for essential medicines and medical supplies, such as birthing kits and feeding tubes, as well as nutritious food. $500 will support a mother (an excellent Mother’s Day gift idea), and $750 will rehabilitate a malnourished child (modest when compared to medical costs in the U.S).

• Sponsor a Student’s Education
Since 1988, the Haitian Health Foundation’s education program has provided access to school for poor children in this country where education is neither free nor mandatory. For $150, you can provide a student with tuition, uniforms, books and shoes—supporting Haiti’s future generations with the education and tools they need to succeed.

• Feed-a-Child
Sponsors of the Feed-a-Child program provide life-sustaining food to over 1,500 malnourished children as well as to prenatal and nursing mothers. When women and children come for food, HHF’s health staff also examines them for medical problems, provides de-worming medicines, iron, etc., and provides health education to the caretakers. Your gift of $300 (or just $25 per month) feeds a malnourished child for one year.

• Give-a-Goat
The Give-a-Goat program distributes goats to the poor families of Jérémie, providing a means for these destitute villagers to become more financially self-sufficient. Your gift of $150 provides a priceless gift to a family in need.

• Happy House
Too many wonderful people live in rickety hovels made of cardboard, rags, and straw. Your gift of $1,000 will help to provide a clean, cement house with a tin roof, windows, and doors. This lifetime gift to a family trapped in poverty can permanently change the lives of 10 to 12 people who presently must fight vermin-like rats and bugs and the elements of rain and wind on a daily basis.

• Clean Latrines
The Haitian Health Foundation supplies the materials and the recipients supply the labor. The building of latrines encourages sanitation and helps to curtail the spread of diseases related to lack of proper waste disposal. Give the gift of better sanitation for $225.
